Philadelphia Business Journal's "40 Under 40 Award" awarded Marco Lentini. The 40 Under 40 award program, which celebrated its 20th anniversary, recognizes young professionals who have demonstrated a record of professional achievement and civic engagement. Winners were selected by an editorial team from more than 300 nominations.
In 2009 the White House, Executive Office of the President selected Marco as one of twelve small business leaders to attend a White House small business conference with the President Obama. Marco was also selected by the White House to give remarks with President Obama on the small business part of the President’s economic stimulus package.Marco was honored by President Obama saying Marco, is an example of what small business is all about.
In 2007 the Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce presented Marco with Philadelphia’s 2007 Young Entrepreneur of the Year, for his outstanding accomplishments and contributions to the Philadelphia area. Award recipients are set apart from the competition by their leadership abilities, their business success, their community involvement and their impressive commitment to improving our region.
Marco is also a winner of the 2007 Forbes Enterprise Awards, which recognizes outstanding businesses that demonstrate visionary practices and achievements.
In the news: Marco is a frequent guest on the Fox Business Network Bulls & Bears show and the Neil Cavuto Show. Marco has also appeared on CNN Money, Fox 29, Business Week Small Business, and many other local media outlets.
In 2002 Marco received his MBA from the Wharton School with a dual concentration in Entrepreneurial Management and Marketing. Prior to attending Wharton, Marco worked as an Associate for Deutsche Bank Capital Partners in London, where he focused on latter stage private equity investments, such as leveraged buyouts. During his tenure there, Marco specialized in analyzing and completing investments in the retail, food, beverage, and entertainment industries. Before working for Deutsche Bank, he was an Analyst with Bankers Trust in New York. Marco holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania, with a dual major in International Relations and Italian Studies with Honors Distinction, and a minor in Economics.
As an avid traveler, Marco has researched and visited cafe’s in Europe, Canada, the United States, and Central America. He has visited numerous coffee plantations throughout Central America, and trained with several roasters in Guatemala where he learned the techniques for roasting coffee, with a focus on espresso roasting. Marco has been a culinary aficionado for over twenty years. He grew up in an Italian American home, where the phenomenon of enjoying exceptional food, is just as important as the experience of sharing it with other people. The passion for high quality food, and creating a truly unique and enjoyable eating experience, is the foundation to which Marco’s company is built upon.
Paola Lentini is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University and her area of expertise is in human resources and business development. Her background includes a proven track record of achievement in: employee training and development, staffing/recruiting, succession planning, employee relations, compensation, change management, HR information systems, as well as performance evaluation. Her experience includes 6 years with NVR Inc. in both sales and marketing and human resources, as well independent consulting for Kitchen Gia prior to joining them in her current position in 2009. Paola is certified to train employees in methods and practices of behavioral interviewing and employee development from DDI, (Development Dimensional International,) and Situational Leadership. Paola and her husband and founder, Marco Lentini, strive to maintain excellence in their products and services, and to provide customers with a unique and enjoyable experience every time they step into one of their locations.
Paola is also an avid traveler and food aficionado, growing up in an Italian American home with a mother who studied the culinary arts in London with a passion for food, cooking, and travel. Paola has contributed immensely to research and development of Kitchen Gia's concepts and products. Her research has included travel to Central America and Europe with frequent trips to Italy to enhance the Kitchen Gia experience. She volunteers her time mentoring students groups and supporting events associated with the local universities in the Philadelphia area.
